So many times we sit paralysed because of fear or regret. We long for things to be different. We wish we’d made different choices. We regret things we either did or did not do. We sit frozen to the spot unable to think or see with any clarity, unable to move.
That was me. My head ached from wishing, from over-thinking. It was getting me nowhere.
Over time and with guidance I learned to stop wishing things were different. My life was the way it was however much I wished it was different. I came to realise that my life had got to this point for a reason. That it had been necessary to get to rock bottom, to feel bedrock, in order to start building strong and solid foundations for a brighter future.
I needed to start from where I was; wishing things were different wasn’t going to help me in any way at all. If anything those wishes would hold me back and delay my healing.
The more I resisted and fought against accepting the situation the more entangled I became. The more hopeless seemed the situation and the more helpless I felt.
Accepting where I was really was the first step for me.
What about you? Where are you putting up resistance in your life today?
What’s stopping you right now?
What would change for you if you decided today to start from where you are?
What could you do differently today?
Why don’t you take 10 minutes right now to answer those questions. Are you ready to start from where you are?
If you are, why not leave a comment below.
