Are you actively making decisions about your life? Or is your life being lived in a state of oblivion? Are you simply getting up each morning, going through the motions of your day, racing from one thing to the next, finally making it to the end of the day, knackered and longing for the glass of wine (make mine a double) which will enable you to relax and then fall asleep on the sofa……..?
Is your life something that just seems to happen to you?Are you consciously living or simply living out your days? Do you ever stop and think? LIFE IS SHORT, way too short and you know what if you’re not careful you’re going to turn around and it’ll be over and you’ll be shouting out ‘Hey, I hadn’t even got started’
We’re charging towards the end of the year….. are you thinking ‘what the hell happened to 2011?’ Did you actually make any choices this year or do you have absolutely no idea how it’s suddenly November?
What might you do differently starting TODAY……..not next year. Why not make some resolutions NOW not on January 1st when for most of us we’ll have already failed by the end of the day.
Do something different because if you continue doing what you’ve always done (and you’re less than thrilled with the results you’re getting) you’re just going to get more of the same. Stop a moment and ask yourself that question – ‘Do I really want more of the same?’ If you do, good on you, you’ve been having a great year! If not, what are you going to do differently? Share with us, we can learn from each other.
I’m not for one moment suggesting some wild knee jerk reaction and you throw in everything that’s driving you crazy right now. What might be a little stretch for you? Taking a different route to work? Walking the dog on a different path? Smiling at a stranger (in a friendly way not a stalker kind of way!), eating something different for lunch, asking yourself some real questions? The science bit is that doing something different creates new neural connections in the brain and this can only be a good thing. If we keep on doing what we have always done day in day out we might as well be robots.
Decide something…………..Is your life worth living on purpose? And if so, how are you going to do it? If not now? WHEN?
Take a look at the picture above. It’s the yoga pose Savasana – the corpse pose. This posture usually leaves the body in an anabolic state, one in which organs and muscles repair. An important pose for practioners of yoga, it renews and revitalises the body enabling clear thinking……………is allowing time for clarity worth a try? If it’s not yoga, then how else might you find time? Let me know.
