How do you allow your life to spiral out of control? Do you live your life on a playground see-saw, one minute or even one day high up in the air and the next down on the ground? Or do you live on the merry-go-round, spinning ever faster and becoming more and more out of control and when you finally come to a stop feeling nauseous?
Whatever is going on in your life right now, today, this moment YOU have the choice how to feel, how to react. Are you choosing to live on the edge because you are secretly addicted to the drama or would you really much rather a more balanced, peaceful internal life?
I am learning to take back control of the chatter and anxieties that run riot in my head. I am currently going through a divorce, I have real financial concerns, I’m setting up a business, I’m mum to 3 children with all their anxieties, my parents are getting older……. the list goes on doesn’t it. I could worry about all this ‘stuff’ endlessly and to what purpose quite frankly.
Oprah wrote wonderfully about balance “Balance lives in the present. The surest way to lose your footing is to focus on what dreadful things might happen. When you feel the Earth moving, bring yourself back to the now. You’ll handle whatever shake-up the next moment brings when you get to it. In this moment, you’re still breathing. In this moment, you’ve survived. In this moment, you’ve found a new place to move your feet so you can step onto higher ground”.
Find a metaphor that works for you, find a way to bring balance into your life to that you can live more fully in the present.
