Best Knickers Always – to me it’s a barometer for feeling good. If I’m feeling good then I’m naturally going to be wearing my ‘best’ knickers. Now, I’m not talking about wearing my good knickers in case as my grandmother would say ‘you get knocked down by a bus and need to be taken to hospital’ – yes, she really did say that! Yep, and there are going to be those time of the month knickers that really no one should see – period pants a girlfriend called them (and we’re not talking Jane Austen costume drama pants) and admit it we’ve all got them! There really is no excuse for wearing old, greying, boring knickers. French women have known for decades the importance of wearing good lingerie. Surely if you’ve got something beautiful next to your skin you’re going to feel good? Even if you’re feeling rubbish, life’s pretty shitty and the BBC are interested in using the chaos that is your life for the next hit reality tv show then your underwear is something that can act as a little ‘pick-me-up’, your very own wearable ‘tirami-su’!
If you’ve read previous posts you’ll know that it was my friend Jane who told me that I would recover from heartbreak but that I really did need to sort out my underwear drawer. This wearing of best knickers has nothing to do with the hope/desire that you’ll get lucky and that the gorgeous man in your life/dreams will get a peak. This is all about your treating yourself with the love and respect that you deserve. Now it may not be knickers that does it for you, you might find that your favourite piece of jewelery or particular colour of nail polish or brand of lipstick is what gives you that great feeling. Your best knickers are those that make you feel fabulous inside – some days that may mean wearing a sexy black thong to satisfy your inner raunchy sex goddess, another day it may mean some flirty frilly knickers that you wear to the board meeting, another day it may mean your CK girl boxers and not forgetting that everyday is a Wonderwoman pants day!
So whether Primark or Agent Provocateur, M&S or Myla is more your style and budget – ladies get shopping please……and yes Bridget Jones pants have their place too ….. but those really are for your eyes only please!
