In a more and more stressful world when racing between appointments, walking the dog, getting the children organised, visiting a sick neighbour, checking up on our ageing parents when was the last time you acted with kindness to yourself? When was the last time someone did something kind for you?
There is a story behind this photo which has inspired me. It is the little things that often mean the most. My son borrowed my camera to take some photos of his art work. He finished using it and put it back next to my laptop. A while later I downloaded some photos I’d recently taken and found this photo nestling amongst them….. It was meant for me. It was a little gesture that had a powerful impact. It cost nothing but is of incalculable value.
What little gestures can we do to put a smile on someone’s face? Because in doing so we also get to smile. I’ve just come back from a few days away, not having seen my daughter for the best part of a week. She rang the doorbell when she came back from school so that she could hand me the bunch of daffodils she’d bought me on the way home from school. Cost – £1, value – immeasurable.
If you’re in need of inspiration then I recommend the film ‘Pay it Forward’ – a box of tissues is recommended…..but then I cry at everything! And if you want instant inspiration have a look at this website –http://hoperevo.com/
