“There is nothing more beautiful than seeing a person being themselves. Imagine going through your day being unapologetically you.” ~ Steve Maraboli
This word unapologetic keeps coming up. It’s a word that a client shared with me about how she wants to feel. I keep reading it in articles and then I came across this quote that I’d written as a header for something a long time ago.
I’m not talking the rude unapologetic, like someone I used to know, huh hum! She was just plain rude and was utterly apologetic about it, in an f*** you kind of way! Not what I’m pointing to at all.
When someone lets their light shine through, when someone blossoms without fear, when someone steps out of the shadows they’d created for themselves, this is the unapologetic I’m talking about.
And it’s magnificent to watch.
The deepest, most connected part of us, our soul, innate wisdom, whatever name you want to give it is always unapologetic. She just knows, she just is. She doesn’t worry about fear, or playing small, or keeping quiet because for her there’s no need. She always comes from a place of love. She is us all …we’ve just forgotten.
She’s playful, loving, creative, resourceful, compassionate, resilient, insightful, curious, wise, peaceful, open hearted, passionate. She is YOU.
We connect with her when we still the noise in our heads, the criticism, the judging, the unkind words we use against ourselves.
We connect with her when we trust ourselves and silence the voices of others that we use against ourselves.
We connect with her when we truly, madly and deeply love ourselves as we are. No buts.
